Urban Dance Troupe is Penn State’s first official Hip-Hop Dance Team. As it is student-run, the team has created a name for itself through its determined and talented members. UDT strives to benefit not only the Penn State community, but also the State College community through creative means and volunteering. Urban Dance Troupe creates a space for dancers to demonstrate their talent and skills. UDT encourages self-expression of our members and audiences. Consistent effort and diligence has led to UDT being one of Penn State’s premiere dance organizations.
our history
Urban Dance Troupe (UDT) is a student-run hip hop team that originated at the Penn State Altoona campus. In 2005, UDT found its way to University Park becoming its first hip-hop dance group. Urban Dance Troupe has been crowned "Penn State's Best Dance Crew" in 2015 and 2017 and was named the 2014 & 2015 & 2017 Homecoming Dance Competition winners. UDt held the first place slot in Penn state's best dance crew for both the 2018 and 2020 years. UDT performs and competes all over campus at events such as THON, Apollo, and Achiever's Weekend just to name a few. UDT is a hardworking family that is passionate about spreading their love of dance across this campus by bringing a dynamic show to its audience.
UDT Consitution
I. Preamble
This organization exists through Pennsylvania State University and derives its authority there from.
II. Name
The name of the organization shall be the Urban Dance Troupe (also referred by the acronym UDT).
III. Purpose
The purposes of this organization shall be:

Be a hardworking family that strives to create an environment that pushes dancers to test the limits of their talents to the best of their capabilities and participate in college events
IV. Membership
A. At all times, the majority (50%+1) of all active members shall be full-time, officially registered, undergraduate students at University Park.
B. Only currently registered students are eligible for active membership.
C. Requirements:

To participate in a minimum of two performances per year;

To attend a minimum of half the practices for each month (four practices) as permitted by their schedule;

To participate in the community service activities of the organization;

To help form committees to coordinate activities for the UDT;

To pay all dues expected of members per semester;D.At all times there shall be at least 10 active student members for undergraduate or graduate organizations

This organization may restrict membership but will uphold the Penn State non-discriminatory clause and will not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, physical handicap, or creed.

Any and all new members will be given full disclosure during recruitment, including but not limited to the disclosure of:

A definition of personal rights, and a copy of the University Hazing policy, prescribed by Policies and Rules for Student Organizations.

All members, including but not limited to new members and recruits, reserve the right to refrain from participating in any activities without consequence, based upon personal/religious beliefs, personal values, or moral reserve as defined by the member.

Any and all interaction/activity between members and/or new members will be limited to guidelines stated by university policy, as well as local, state, and federal laws. The club reserves the right to expel a member who is not following the policies of the organization with a super majority vote of attending members – quorum is 75% of active members. This organization will not restrict membership based on characteristics of a student, which are intrinsic to the identity of that student, and are not essential to the potential value of that student as a member of that organization and the Penn State University Community at large.
